Functional training focuses on training movements - not muscles. This method of training involves the use of more functional positions (i.e. Positions that we use in everyday life. Like bending over to pick something off the ground, the positions we are in when walking down a flight of steps, or a simple push/pull movement). Many misinformed fitness professionals however ASSUME that these functional positions are dangerous. |
